Together in Every Water

Whether navigating calm coastal waterways, managing demanding commercial towing operations, or responding to critical offshore emergencies, modern marine operators rely on precision, durability, and reliability. As the industry continues to face evolving operational demands, stricter environmental standards, and increasingly complex vessels, ZF remains steadfastly “Together in Every Water,” delivering advanced propulsion and service solutions designed to help operators meet the toughest challenges on the water.
Building on major global showcases like SMM 2026, ZF continues to expand its comprehensive portfolio of advanced marine technologies. At the heart of this innovation is the newest generation of the AutoTroll 2 speed control system.
Providing precise, closed-loop low-speed maneuverability, AutoTroll 2 is engineered to optimize handling during complex docking, narrow channel transits, and dynamic positioning operations. Operators can seamlessly select between multiple shifting characteristics, from exceptionally smooth responses for delicate commercial tasks to more direct and dynamic behaviors.
ZF also offers an optional AutoTroll Firefighting function specifically designed for thruster-propelled vessels. The system is engineered to help maintain vessel stability, cooling, and precise thrust control under extreme thermal loads during emergency firefighting scenarios.
Beyond advanced mechanical control, ZF is driving innovation in heavier-duty applications. The recently released ZF AT 110 thruster and the highly flexible ZF 9200 A/V PTI hybrid transmission underscore ZF’s engineering leadership across a diverse portfolio of commercial, fast craft, and workboat applications. Together, the two products extend ZF’s driveline portfolio into higher power classes.

The ZF 9200 A/V PTI is the latest variant of the company’s established ZF 9000 transmission series. The transmission can be installed in both V and A, or down-angle, positions, giving shipbuilders additional design freedom.
It accommodates a maximum main drive power of up to 3,903 kW, while the integrated power take-in supports hybrid operation with up to approximately 700 kW. During operation using the PTI electric drive, the propulsion system produces no exhaust emissions at the vessel’s point of operation, subject to the vessel’s configuration and energy source.
The ZF 9200 A/V PTI features a modular design and a wide ratio spread, allowing it to be tailored to different vessel types, electric motor sizes, and hybrid propulsion concepts. Its lightweight aluminum housing contributes to a compact overall design, while full classification approval supports integration into a wide range of vessel classes.
Optional accessories such as PTO units, an integrated shaft brake, and flexible mounting solutions further increase adaptability.

Meanwhile, the ZF AT 110 represents the largest thruster ZF has developed to date. Compatible with engine outputs of up to 2,944 kW, it extends the portfolio into more powerful vessel segments, supporting ongoing trends toward more demanding offshore and harbor operations.
Designed for applications such as modern tugboats, the unit enables bollard pull values of around 100 tons, meeting current market requirements in this power class and helping operators handle increasingly large merchant vessels.
The ZF AT 110 is also designed with installation efficiency in mind. With center-to-center dimensions of around 3,700 mm, or 3,825 mm with optional seal monitoring, the thruster features a compact design compared with many current market alternatives. This can allow easier integration into vessel designs where available space is limited and support more flexible ship layouts.
Both products are designed to support efficient vessel operation across demanding marine applications when correctly specified, installed, operated, and maintained.
