APM Terminals Aarhus in Denmark recently revealed it is now running on 100% renewable electricity as it strives to offer fossil-free container handling.
The milestone occurs well ahead of the terminal operator's goal to source 80% of all electricity consumed in the container handling, and in facilities at APM Terminals Aarhus from renewable energy by 2024.
"In collaboration with our new supplier, we have taken the step to exclusively purchase 100% green electricity. This is a very important milestone in our decarbonization plan," said Mette Linneman Nielsen, Head of HSSE at APM Terminals Nordic.
"As the largest container terminal in Denmark, we have a great responsibility to reduce the climate footprint, and I am proud to say that we now contribute to a more environmentally friendly supply chain for our customers."
